About Us
Created in Southern California
Our Story
Founded in October 2017 by Auntie Ina and Justus-Bryce, What's Mine Is Yours quickly became a beloved club at Canyon High School. Auntie Ina and Justus successfully launched the thrifting club, attracting students from diverse backgrounds. The club promoted inclusivity, bringing together track members, theater enthusiasts, basketball players, AP students, and more, creating a vibrant community. WMIY provided a creative outlet for self-expression during the challenges of high school, while also promoting sustainability and environmental awareness through its activities. The club's impact expanded when Celeste and Samuel adopted it at RBHS in 2022, leading to its adoption in several San Diego schools by Nathan, the current president at RBHS.
Our Vision
Inspired by its success, WMIY strives to become an official nonprofit and expand to various high schools across the United States, continuing to empower students and make a positive difference in communities nationwide.
Additionally, our nonprofit aims to create a fun and inclusive environment for all members and “shoppers” through engaging and community-building activities. We hope to create a vibrant, supportive community where students can express themselves, learn new skills, and enjoy working together toward common goals.
Core Values
Since 2017, we've seen thrift shop prices rise and tons of clothes end up in landfills each year. We strive to establish a community that focuses on waste reduction and shifts perceptions about accepting charitable support. That's why WMIY advocates for thrifting to be accessible to all.

Meet Auntie Ina
Formally an art teacher at Canyon High School and later a school counselor, Auntie Ina is celebrated not only for her successful career as a kind-hearted and caring role model but also for her remarkable creative talents that continue to inspire and impact many. Auntie Ina envisioned creating a club where students could come together, have fun, and find new homes for recycled clothing. Her dream was to create a sense of community and environmental responsibility among young people. Driven by her passion and vision, Auntie Ina set out to make this dream a reality. Through her efforts, Auntie Ina continues to leave a lasting legacy, showing that with hard work, creativity, and a caring heart, it is possible to make a meaningful change in the world.
Meet Justus
Justus grew up receiving hand-me-downs from her older cousins, which she lovingly repurposed into unique clothing pieces. Her passion for repurposing fabric and creating sustainable fashion grew stronger. Upon learning about Auntie Ina's efforts to support those without access to clothing, Justus was inspired to make a difference. She envisioned a space where each garment could find a new home, just as she had done with her pieces. This dream led her to join forces with Auntie Ina to create What's Mine Is Yours—a place where every piece of clothing tells a story of reuse and community solidarity.
Nathan has always loved the art of thrifting and refuses to buy clothes from any other place. When WMIY was first introduced at RBHS, Nathan gladly assumed the role of treasurer, and later president, in order to support the cause. During his time in office, Nathan was able to find a passion to continue to advocate for the movement. With his commitment to WMIY's values, Nathan swiftly expanded the club to three additional schools and hopefully more in the future. Nathan's leadership exemplifies the ethos of WMIY, serving as a role model for his peers and demonstrating the profound impact that passionate individuals can have on creating meaningful change.
